Monte Carlo in November

We will be in Monte Carlo for 13 hours as a cruise stop on Tuesday, November 9, 2010. I have just read on this forum that the palace will be closed for the winter by then. Will there be much else to do? We can rent a car from Hertz for about $100 for the day. Might that be an option, with a drive to Eze and Nice? Or would those spots be empty in November? Suggestions please for a day in Monaco or the region.

(We will be in Marseille the next day and will do a tour to Arles. Then we will be in Sete for Nov. 11, Armistice Day)

You'll still be able to see the outside of the palace, even if the inside is closed, which is what most people do anyway. Apart from the palace there are other sites to see (casino, Jardin Exotique, port etc) I would recommend if this is your first time in Monaco to stay in MOnaco, there will be plenty to do, and if the weather isn't great there's always the Oceanographic museum near the palace.
