Azur Express tourist train

Im coming to Monaco/monte carlo for a day trip from Nice. Is the tourist train a good way to see all the sights? Is it easily found from where we would get off the bus from Nice? How often does it depart and how much does it cost?

The little tourist train route starts in front of the Oceanographic Institute in Monaco Ville up on the Rock.

Coming from Nice, you would get off at Place d'Armes.

See the Monaco bus route map:

You can take the red or blue line bus up to Monaco Ville. When you get off the bus you will walk south down an alleyway to the Oceanographic Institute. You can't miss the tourist train office where they sell the tickets.

Alternatively, when you get off at Place d'Armes, you can walk uphill, up the ramp to Monaco Ville. This will bring you up to the area in front of the Palace. Again head south to the Oceanographic Institute. Personally, I would take the bus up and walk back down.

Monaco Ville is very lovely with fantastic views over the harbors to the east and west and south out into the Mediterranean. You can tour the Palace, visit the Cathedral and tour the Oceanographic Institute. There are also many shops and restaurants.

The tourist train takes you around Monaco and back to Monaco Ville. You can't get off. The train wasn't terribly expensive and the audio guide points out the highlights. You'll get an appreciation for the skills of the Gran Prix drivers.

Right across the street from the bus stop at Place d'Armes is a restaurant with tables on the sidewalk. Don't recall the name but its open 24/7 and is reasonably priced with decent food.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
