The Chinese restaurant on the main street in Coral Bay (next door to the Sunset bar) does food to take away and it is spot on. You can also get kebabs, burgers and chips etc. from a little takeaway place on the opposite side of the road.

We also rent a villa for our holiday in Coral Bay and our flight doesn't usually arrive until about 5.30-6.00pm so, by the time we get to the villa it is about 7.00pm. We usually drop the cases in the villa, put the aircon on then head out in the clothes we are wearing for our first "nosebag" of the holiday. We usually eat on our first night and raise a toast to the holiday at a restaurant called Seriani on the main street. It is casual enough for you not to feel out of place in your travelling things (as is everywhere else in Coral Bay really). After that first meal we grab a couple of bottles of the local plonk from the supermarket, head back to the villa for a tipple on the patio then off to bed.

We just hate that feeling of having wasted a whole day travelling without having a taste of holiday on that first day so we make sure we do something to get us in the holiday mood on that first night.

Hello Kelly,

There are no main Supermarkets in Coral Bay - small Kiosks that sell everyting but the kitchen Sink.

You can find a couple of medium supermarkets in Peyia but the nearest large scale supermarket would be Papantoniou in Chloraka and there is one in Paphos near the Harbour.

For basics, the kiosks are fine.

Hope this helps.

Kelly - not sure what Likadia means by "kiosks" but the supermarkets in Coral Bay are what I would call a "mini market", similar to the Spar or Co-op shops we have in the UK. They sell most of the stuff you will need but there isn't a great choice. You will definitely be able to buy everything you need to tide you over the first 24 hours until you can get to the main supermarkets for a stock up.

For stocking up we go to Papantonious in Chlorakas. They have a delicatessen, bakery, butchers, greengrocers and fishmongers plus the general items you will need. to fill your cupboards, plus cleaning stuff and toiletries. There is far more choice there than anywhere else I have come across.

We found the mini-market at the top of the hill (on the right as you start to descend - sorry the name escapes me) more than adequate for our needs - in fact we did all our shopping there and never bothered to go any where else.

From recollection though they close quite early on a Sunday - although very late on most other nights - so you may want to check as soon as you arrive.

I would also check exactly where your Villa is - one villa we booked as being in Coral Bay was in fact about 5 miles from Coral Bay itself - and car hire was absolutely essential to get to and from it.

I would head to Seriani's in Coral Bay as the previous post has suggested. We also head for here on the first night and are treated by the owners like old friends. Our flights have always got us to Peyia / Coral Bay around 6pm so we just ambled down had a meze and a few bottles of wine and then staggered back some hours later!!!.

Philippos Supermarket in Peyia is good. We travelled with two young children and were able to get all the kiddie stuff you need. It's convenient and not as pricey as Angelas in Coral Bay. Depends if you intend to cook, we didn't cook any main meals but found enough local produce to rustle up lunch and breakfast.

Also there was a wonderful bakery come cake shop on the way up to Peyia from Coral Bay on the left hand side. Cakes and gateaux to die for and not sickly sweet like the usual cyprriot cakes. Hope its still there when we return!!
