Eating out in Northern Cyprus

Hi we are a family of four and have been to Turkey the last couple of years, thinking about visiting Kyrenia area but worried we won't be able to eat out as much as in Turkey? Also my kids love the markets in Turkey do they have anything similar in Cyprus

Pacific rentals (http://www.pacific-rentals.com/) get my vote, used them on both visits to N. Cyprus. Good service and competitive rates. They can also arrange transfers.

Hi We have an apartment in Esentepe (East of Kyrenia) and go out there 4 or 5 times a year and always use Baspinar car hire - always competitive and quality clean cars.

Hi Angela. Lapta and Catalkoy are both good -

Lots of restaurants in Lapta, plus the waterpark which is fairly small but still fun for kids. and near to good beaches like Escape Beach which is has shallow water, watersports and cafe.

Acapulco is lovely for the beach, waterslides, buffet restaurant, spa, and when I went a couple of months ago it looks like they have a new mini-funfair with big wheel. (but it is quite far from anything else, 15 mins drive from Kyrenia centre), 5 mins drive from other restaurants.

There's a useful local community forum if you want any extra advice from expats here - Lemon Grove Forum.

You'll find that most car hire companies can arrange a transfer to/from Larnaca for you (or a typical taxi rate is £50 one-way). Lots of car hire companies to choose from and all fairly similar in my experience

I would say bird are very good. I would avoid Karapasha as they were unable to supply the 4x4 we ordered and tried to pass us off with a small hatchback instead. Baspinar while cheap forgot to pick us up on the retrun trip to the airport.

I would avoid Bird as well they forgot to pick us up at 4am for flight. The hotel made numerous phone calls on our behalf to no avail, ended getting a cab of the street. On arriving home sent numerous emails no apology.Related the story the following visit and apparently it is quite common for Bird
