Finding the market

Hey,

I have read that the Sunday market in Marsaxlokk is better than the Sunday Market in Valletta. Is that true? However, i recently read that the Sunday market in Marsaxlokk is for the most, a Fish market and nothing else. It would be nice to go to a market that offers more than just fish and also a market that the locals would normally go to, to get a feel of the people and culture! Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks :)

2. Re: Finding the market

The Sunday market in Marsaxlokk stretches from the Coach park at one end of the village to near the football ground at the other, all along the Xatt. It has many stalls dedicated to fish (it is a fishing village after all), fruit and veg, saucepans and other utensils, and sweets, olives, pastries, cakes, etc., etc. because trhe locals shop there but also there are stalls selling clothes, shoes and boots, flowers and plants, pets, mobile phones and watches...........in fact anything one could possibly want. Locals get there early (around 6 am) and tourists arrive later, thronging the street and sitting at one of the roadside cafes for a coffee and pastizzi. It cannot compare with the Sunday market in Valletta which, though larger, is principally a tourist trap and not for locals at all.
