The official currency is Maltese pund( Lire), and that`s the only one even if some tourist shops take Euro.

If I am not wrong Malta will be using the Euro from 2007 ???

As posted, the currency is Maltese Lira and the best is that you stick to this. Hence, exchange your money into Mlatese Lira at a foreign exchange when in Malta... Some Hotels, restaurants and some shops also accept payment in euros but they are simply exchanging youir money at a rate that pays them...

legal tender is the Lira ONLY - old timers still call it the pound. All other currencies are accepted ( !!! ) but you pay extra... For many small items, shops or busdrivers etc only take liri
