We have just returned from a lovely holiday in Ghajnsielem and want to thank everyone on the forum who gave us help and advice.
One of our concerns was what taxi service to use. After much searching we decided to use Koptaco a taxi co-operative. They were waiting for us on time on our arrival and for our return and cost 46 euros return from the airport to the ferry port, which we though was very good as we had been quoted a lot, lot more by other companies and also bearing in mind that a shared transfer was 36 euros return.
We found the Arriva bus service to be very good (sometimes a little behind schedule) and cheap at 2.60 euros for travel all day around Gozo or 12 euros for a weeks travel. We around the island with ease.
We would recommend the St. Joseph's Band Club as they are very welcoming and the drinks and food are not expensive. Also the Club House food was very good with huge portions.
The people of Ghajnsielem made us very welcome and it was lovely to be staying in the community and be part of village life, (the rooster who was our alarm clock, the church bells, strolling around the village and sitting in the square), rather than be in a purpose built resort.
The feast of SS Peter and Paul was being celebrated in the village of Nadur and that was a lovely sight to see and be part of.
We had a lovely apartment right by the village square - with a rooftop terrace with sea views which was only a 10 minute walk from Mgarr - which was ideal for us.
We would certainly return.
