Malta National Aquarium

Hi,

I bought the lonely planet guide to Malta yesterday and notice it mentions an aquarium due to open in Buggiba soon.

Does anyone know whether this will be open by August 2013?, and an approx admission fee if possible.

Many thanks if you can tell me more about this attraction.

Certainly appears to be a first class project - will look forward to a visit when complete.

Strange how this and many other projects have either just been, or are about to be completed - well, I suppose it is the elections when all is said and done!

Hi Hallamtraveller,

Agree with Graham on this one. As for admission charges, knowing what the Maltese charge for other attractions it will not be cheap. It's not in Bugibba, it's in Qawra, about a 15-20 min walk from Bugibba along the promenade.

The aquarium is supposed to open on the 15th July walked around on Thursday and it looks very impressive.

Pools are open as is the Restaurant prices are reasonable and good selection. The garden area is looking good with plenty of seats to enjoy the views.

This has been an ongoing venture and at last is has come to fruition.Well done to everyone connected to the

building and planning.

I'm looking forward to seeing it when I return in October. It's great to see an investment to provide a quality attraction in the Bugibba/Qawra area.

Hi Hallamtraveller,

Received an e-mail from the National Aquarium which states the admission fees will be:

Adults - 12.90 euros

Children - 5 to 12 years - 6 euros

I asked if they would be offering a reduced fee for senior citizens, but am still waiting for a reply

Malta National Aquarium:

I enquired about the charges to use the swimming pool and received a reply which says:

Monday to Saturday 10 euros pp

Sunday and Public Holidays 15 euros pp

It also says children 50% off, but doesn't say if this reduction is for both charges or gives ages for this reduction.

Sounds a bit pricey as the sea and a rocky beach are only 50 yards away
