Has anyone stayed at this hotel? What is it like? Is the complex finished? Is the food good? How long is the transfer from the airport?
Go to the Quinta do Lorde thread towards the bottom of the topic page . You will see that it is only just about to open , so will have to wait for your replies .
I have been there when nothing was open yet (except a bar, where I met a Dutchman working there). The complex looked finished but it is very remotely located. It will be very quiet there.
It will be a 15-20 minute drive from airport. It is not very near Canical, but it is at the other side of the hill that separates this resort from Madeira's only real beach (black sand), a small one, Prainha.
There are buses between Canical and the famous Baia d'Abra at the far end of Ponta da Sao Lourenco, the start of a wonderful walk. I guess there will be a bus stop near the resort.
Quinta do Lorde has the harbour from where a company starts their boat trips to the Desertas Islands, 80 Euro with hot lunch, but I loved it. Takes all day, and we saw dolphins. Minimum 4 people (on a Turkish gület).
Please write a review after your stay so we will all know what it's like to be there.Edited: 12:12 pm, February 06, 2013
Hi .. not been there yet ..but booked to go in july ,,,, i think it looks great ,,,im keeping an eye for the first review ;-)
Hi, there are 3 reviews on here already.
They told me it's a great hotel, appartment.....resort, and spa. Newly finished, and very modern building methodes...in the local style. I've made a reservation for a week start june 13. Later this year, after the trip I will post a more detailed comment on our stay there.
We want to go play golf, and especially the www.santodaserragolf.com/…
I'm pretty sure to find a great place there, and looking forward to it.Edited: 2:37 pm, March 23, 2013
Just spent a week in the resort. The resort is fantastic and you can read many rewievs on TripAdvisor. I know they changed the management after the first initial period. I just can say that is a great 5 start Resort!
Alessandra C - your post has dragged up a post which is nearly two years old, having posted more or less the same on other posts is meaniingless
Maybe you should read both posts.
The first says that the food TOO English is, and could be WAY better.
The second says that concerning food a lot did changed.
If that is not a huge difference to you, well, it very much is to me.
Hopefully this makes it clear. I do not have ANY connection with Quinta do Lorde Hotel, if that may be your problem.
