What to see in Reyjavik

Hi, i am going Reykjavick in 2 weeks for a week. I have planned many excursions (golden circle, horse riding, northern lights, whale watching etc). However, are there any places people would reccommend to go in in the city such as particularly interesting cafes, restaurants, museums etc?

Many thanks

definitely worth a good look at those links before you arrive, however as a recent first time visitor, I would say you should definitely go into Harpa concert hall- striking modern building on harbour front, and we very much enjoyed going out to Perlan, where you get great views of the city and surroundings, v pleasant cafe, or expensive revolving restaurant which is reputed to be excellent. Lots of great restaurants in the picturesque "old" town, we really liked the Fish Company which I see is recommended in the Grapevine link above. and close to it is a lovely cosy cafe Stofan.then with limited time I guess it depends on personal preferences - museums/shops/one of the local swimming pools- swimminginiceland.com/reykjavik-and-capital-…

swimminginiceland.com/reykjavik-and-capital-… are easy to reach. Hope you enjoy your trip as much as we did.

Rebecca, the comments you have seen are pretty good, and your plan is quite extensive. The "old centre" is the place for clubbing and eating out. Make sure to hit the street from the big church, Skolavördustigur for a stroll for small places with art and eating, and then hit the old harbour for small galleries. From there the pretty awesome concert hall Harpan is clearly visible for a visit.

Everything is very compact and lets hope you have a hotel near city centre. You may find it interesting to share the favourite pasttime of us and go to one of the outdoor pools - kept hot by geothermal heating.

The resturants which are rated here are mostly good, there is very little price diffference between the best and the moderate. Go for the seafood: Grillmarkadurinn, Fiskmarkadurinn, Sjavargrillid, or the upscale Hotel Holt

Have a nice time, Stefan, Reykjavik.
