Is there any way do to Jökulsárlón from Reykjavik without a ten hour drive?
My boyfriend and I are in the city Tuesday 8th - Sunday 13th January and are weighing up whether or not to go as we've heard it's a really long drive for a couple of hours stop off - and the tours also seem more expensive than a lot of the others (presumably because of the petrol used!)
Has anyone done any at this time of year - and if so, was it worth it? And does anyone know of budget/reasonably priced (appreciate that's a big ask in Iceland) tours of this area or any similar glacier lagoons around this time, too?
Lastly - we were thinking of doing the South Coast tour with Bus Travel to Sólheimajökull, Skógafoss and Vík. Has anyone been, and if so is it worth going in Winter? From the pictures I've seen the beauty seems to really come alive in summer.
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated :-)
