Travelers Cheques and Currency Exchange

We read a posting which said that travelers cheques aren't used in Iceland. True? We'd like to know before we purchase any for our trip next week.

Also, is the kiosk at the Reykjavik Airport the best place to process a currency exchange? And is this the same place to convert our kroner when we leave Iceland?

These days, the most efficient (and inexpensive) way to get foreign monies is to use your ATM card. That way, you get what you need and usually get the best rate, as well.

There are ATM machines all over the place in Reykjavik, as well as at the airport.

Just check to make sure that your system matches the ones in Iceland. I'm at a loss at the moment, but I'm sure that there are links to banks where you can find out.
