Elephant Rock Heimaey

I have seen so many photos of elephant rock lately and I really want to see it in person! My husband and I are planning a week long trip to Iceland in the end of June/beginning of July. I can't seem to find anything on how to get there. Is there any boat tours? A ferry or something?

I found this http://www.vikingtours.is/

Click the "boat tours" - there's a trip around Vestmannaeyjar and - according to website - it includes view of Elephant Rock.

We went there in November as part of our ring road tour, self driven in a 4x4. It's a little way off the ring road, down a gravel road which I wouldn't have attempted in a smaller car. TBH it was a bit under whelming although different and photogenic in the right tide conditions which unfortunately we didn't have and quite a detour as we then carried on round the peninsula.

Aren't we talking about two different elephants?

Parrotfish - as I guess from your description you visited Dyrhólaey, where you can see a rock looking like elephant from the distance, but viewing pictures on the web (try typing "elephant rock Heimaey") I found another elephant rock and that is probably the one which Chelsey V wants to see. It seems to be located at Vestmannaeyjar and looks fabulous to me.

Hehe, the "elephant rock" is a part of a big cliff face. It is possible to see an image of a elephant under specific light / shadow conditions.

But there is a "Dinosaur rock" in north of Iceland, and is probably what Parrotfish is referring to.
