I'm wondering if there is ever enough sun to need sunscreen? I'm used to packing it for every trip I take in the summer especially for my face.

It's a good idea to pack sunscreen. There can be days with lot's of sunshine.

You are going to have such an amazing time!

I would add rain pants, even if it's not raining if you want to go behind the waterfall or even get close to some of them, they will be valuable. And they're good for cutting the wind.

If you can afford it, buy another cheap point and shoot camera. The number of tragedies we had with ours was almost comical and it was only because we had a spare to share with all four of us that we were OK. Cameras are incredibly expensive there.

Good shoes with a Vibram sole really make a difference.

I posted a trip review of our trip. Look me up and you can see what we did and whether it's applicable.

When we were in Myvatn the bugs were just starting to come out. You're familiar with black flies, that's sort of what they were like, except they weren't biting. Bring a bug hat. They run about $8 in Iceland, but the dollar stores carry them here.

If you're doing any of the baths, it's cheaper to bring your own towel. A toque will also be appreciated, and hopefully a charm against the colder weather.

Band aids, chapstick, sunscreen, corkscrew, bug dope and towels are now all added to the pile. Very good ideas - I am sure they will all be very useful.

Thank you everybody!

PS: what is "moonbeam"?
