Train into Turku, Ferry Out

I am planning my trip of Scandinavia for the Spring (brrrr). I will be traveling to Turku via train from Helsinki, but am curious as to the price and/or schedules. I am failing at google at the moment. Also, when leaving Turku for Stockholm, should I take the ferry that's through the day for the scenery, or take the overnight ferry to get a full day in Stockholm? What is the price of a cabin for overnight vs. just a walk on ticket for daytime? I've seen mentioned that the archipelago is beautiful, but will I regret it if I sleep through it? Any links appreciated. Everything I've found won't give me a price. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

For the train try: http://www.vr.fi/eng/

The train takes you all the way to the harbour, just make sure you buy the ticket to Turku satama. Harbour in finnish :)

For the ferry out try:

www.tallinksilja.com/fi/mainMenu/silja/ or

http://www.vikingline.fi/

How long are you staying in stockholm for?

If you are there for a couple of days, then definitely take the day ferry and just have warm clothes on and go up on the deck. If its late in the spring you can see the melted iceblocks floating around. And the archipelago between Finland and Sweden is so beautiful!

The ferrys have big windows so you can sit inside too :)

Hope this helps.

Daytime crossing is cheaper than an evening departure, but anyhow I recommend you to book a cabin, as the journey is 7 hours long it is good to have a place where you can relax and keep your belongings. Day cabins are not too expensive. When travelling alone on Viking Line a B2P cabin is a good option. It has the same price as C class, but better location on upper decks (C cabins are below the car deck) - a similar cabin is called B2 on Silja Line.
