How much?

Can anyone give me an idea on the prices of basic items such as bottled water, sandwiches, softdrinks, postcards etc? I will only be in Helsinki for a short time ( via cruise) and this would give me an idea on how much FIM to prepare to bring when I visit Helsinki. Any suggestions on souvenirs? Any suggestions of websites to learn just a few basic Finnish? Thanks.

Finland uses Euros nowadays, so that is the current currency in Finland. If you are traveling in say germany, France etc. then you can use the same currency there.

Bottled water (without gas) about 1€/1litre

Softdrinks: 0,5litres/1,4-1,5€ 1,5litres/1,5-2,10€ (Small bottles are more expensive as you can see. Cans are also more expensive than bottles.

Sandwiches depend totally where you buy them. I´d say from 2€ to 5€.

Postcards there really isn´t an average on those.

Sending postcards: posti.fi/english/…

I forgot to say that tap water is excellent, clean and tastes good in Finland so you shouldn´t buy bottled water if there is a tap available.

HI,

Finland has used EUR since 2002, so no need to bring FIM ;)

If you have Visa you're well equipped, with Amex or Diners you have to be a little more selective, but basically you don't need much cash at all. All the shops and bars accept at least Visa.

Water and soft drinks 1-2 EUR, sandwich maybe 5 EUR.
