Have no fear - Santas are scarce in June.

What part of Finland are you visiting? This makes a big difference to what we could suggest for you.

When my daughter was 5, one of her favorite places in Helsinki was Seurasaari outdoor museum. Not for the antique timber buildings - she liked the very tame red squirrels. Take peanuts and you will make lots of furry friends. This is a 20-minute bus ride from the center.

The tunnels, battlements and old guns of the Suomenlinna fortress islands are a hit with most kids. It's a short ferry ride from Kauppatori market square.

The Saturday between June 20 and 26 is Midsummer, a big deal in Finland. Will you be around for this?

Day trips - you might go by train to Turku (castle, cathedral, general culture, nice riverside), Hämeenlinna (castle, lake scenery) or Tampere (lakes, culture). Porvoo is only an hour away by bus and has a pleasant timber old town and historic cathedral. The capital of Estonia, Tallinn, can also easily be visited as a day trip as it's only 50 miles away (1½-2 hours by ferry) - closer than any reasonably large Finnish cities, in fact. Tallinn's most obvious attraction is its beautiful medieval Old Town.

I would recommend Helsinki Zoo and go there with a ferry. For more info of the zoo see korkeasaari.fi/en/services/visitorinformation

As JohntheFinn already recommended go to Tallin, old tow is great it is just about one kilometer away from the harbor.

Ferry tickets to tallin aint that expensive, you can get return tickets for two adults under 100€. For more information about the tickets and some infromation about Tallin see http://www.tallinksilja.com/en/

Eckerö Line and Viking Line also offers cruises to Tallin.

Turku might be worth of visiting and maby Porvoo, but i dont know about Hämeenlinna - in my opinion its not that great.

Helsinki playground (http://www.leikkiluola.fi/english/)

a playground for kids, where even adults can enjoy themselves!

Korkeasaari (korkeasaari.fi/en/services/visitorinformation)

The Helsinki zoo with a lot of great things to see and do, and a very pleasant boat ride to get there :)

Suomenlinna (http://www.suomenlinna.fi/en/)

a midevil castle in an island, with a nice boat ride from the center of Helsinki (from Kauppatori) and nice views, caves, dungeons and toy shops for children (including cafes and restaurants for adults)

Heureka (http://www.heureka.fi/portal/englanti/)

a science park for young children, where adults will enjoy themselves as well!

Natural history museum (http://www.luomus.fi/english/)

One of my favorite things as a child, a lot of entertainment for a child to keep him busy and interested, also very nice for adults!

Linnanmäki (http://www.linnanmaki.fi/en/)

An amusement park with a Sea Life building, full of fun for children and adults alike! Great place to have lunch as well.
