To expound on that: my retired mother and her female circle of friends in Helsinki make fairly frequent day trips to Tallinn in order to get their hair and nails done in addition to other beauty treatments and some shopping. The price differences in beauty services between Helsinki and Tallinn are so large that they recoup the cost of the boat fares and more. The drawback is that you in practice need a full day, so this solution is possible only if you have a flexible schedule. Nine-to-five wage slaves can do this only on the weekends which is one reason why the Tallinn boats are busier on those days.

The differences in beayty salons downtown Helsinki are not that huge. What kind of service are you in need for Karen?

Hakaniemi area is way cheaper than Helsinki center, qualitywise there is no difference. Here's a list:

metro stop Hakaniemi.
