Transport from airport to city

How much is a taxi from the international airport to the central city? What is the best way to get into the city for 3 people, one 4 year old child, after midnight.?

Just back from Helsinki - Airport to City Centre at 23:00hrs was Euro 32, and return in afternoon was Euro 30.

With a 4 year old child I would not consider any other way than taxi from airport at midnight!

After midnight with a four year old a taxi is the only smart alternative.

When you get to the airport and come through customs, you'll be directly at the arrival's lounge where there usually are people at the info desk. If there's no one there, you can just take a look outside and you'll see the queue for the taxis. Usually you can fit 3 adults and a 4-year-old into the same taxi but note that all of you will have to wear your seat belts and that might be difficult to manage.

You might have to get a big taxi - you can ask one of the taxi drivers to try and get you one or just ask the info desk to get you one.

Hope you enjoy Helsinki!!

Standard taxis take 4 adults, 3 in the back and 1 beside the driver. Seatbelts exist for every passenger, but the use is optional. I've never been encouraged to wear a belt in a taxi.

We travelled to finland with friends who had a small child around new years. We actually found the bus to be a really easy option from the airport to the city and much cheaper! Our flight got in after midnight also and the place was pretty deserted and most people got on the same bus we did.

When you walk out of the airport the is a finnair bus directly outside the terminal. I think it cost us 5.20 euro each and the child was free. The driver was so helpful and the bus took us straight into the city centre. We could see our hotel from the transit centre so we just walked. There was no hassle at all and the service was very quick.

It would probably help to know which hotel you were staying in dtermine whether it is close to the transit centre/the other stop on the bus route.

Hope this is helpful.
