Holiday in November

We are planning a trip to Stockholm end of November beginning of December and would like any useful suggestions on what to do & where to go. We have 10 days for the holiday and we also visiting some friends in lidingo….. actually we are staying in lindingo so is it far from the Stockholm centre and how we can get to the city every day evenings and morning and how much does it cost? ….. should we stay in the city centre for a couple of nights to make to most of our Holiday……. Also I read that in November the weather is dull  I hope we will still enjoy our time there some of the comments have put us off this holiday however we are taking the risk....

Is there any Christmas Market at that time?

Which is the best form of transport from Skavsta Airport to Stockholm Centre?

Thanks hope to receive good advice

Depending on where in Lidingö your friends live, you will most likely take a short bus or train trip to get to the subway-station "Ropsten". From there, it takes 5-10 minutes to get to the city centre.

If you are planning to stay out late at weekdays and don't want to wait for buses/trains it could be a good idea to book one night at a hotel, otherwise you should be fine staying at Lidingö.

There are 7-day cards for all buses, trains and subways that cost about 25 euros.

Don't let the comments about November weather get you down. Since you are staying for 10 days you will probably get at least one or two nice, sunny, days. Otherwise it might be a little chilly and grey clowds, but I don't see how that would affect your holiday in a negative way.

The first Christmas markets will probably start the first weekend in December, keep updated at www.stockholmtown.com.

Skavsta Airport is located 100 km from Stockholm, the easiest way to get to and from there is probably with the bus line "Flygbussarna", which takes about 1½ - 2 hours.

From the closer airport Arlanda it takes 20 minutes by train to the city centre.

Have a great trip!

Just a comment about possibly booking a night in a hotel to avoid waiting for buses, etc. A taxi trip from the centre of the city (if you travel with one of the reputable operators) would cost between 300 and 400 SEK, considerably cheaper than anything but the least expensive hostels. Normally the underground goes relatively regularly, so getting the underground to Ropsten, where buses and the Lidingö train goes from, then a taxi across the bridge right to your door might be a good compromise if you want to balance convenience and cost.

If you know the address you will be staying at, you can try a few different options in the travel planner at http://sl.se/Templates/SubStart.aspx?id=1906. The trip from Stockholm's Central Station to Ropsten takes just under 10 minutes.
