Stockholm is the most boring city in the World.

Hello. I am from New Zealand and I live in Uppsala.

I can't say this is the most exciting country I have been in. I'd go as far to say as down right dull.

Been to Stockholm a couple of times, pretty but no substance.

I have a friend staying here and her and her boyfriend are heading into Stockholm for the weekend.

(June 6-10).

She asked me what there was to do and since we went to Gamla Stan last time, I'm like, nothing really.

You might want to check out the theme park, but other than that and a few really boring museums, there's nothing to do.

Come on you boring, dull Swedes, prove me wrong, (if you can). What kind of itinerary would you make up for the weekend? What is there to see and do in Stockholm? Which restuarants would you eat it? Which bars would you go too? What would you do during the day?

Seriously, there must be something to do in this boring country,... I really want to be proven wrong and have to admit how wrong I am.

P.s The couple are in their late 20s and no, they don't want to go and see some wooden Vasa boat.

Boring is as boring does!

I think the local Swedes are not going to spill the beans and good on them. Don't want all those ryanair types jetting over to drink beer and throw up on the streets of their beloved city ;-)

If you want to party and drink hard then perhaps you are in the wrong country :-)

If they don't want to go "see some wooden boat", they are probably in the wrong city/country/continent. Tell them to go to Orlando or Ibiza instead.

I don't think Stockholm is more boring than Auckland. Is there any significant museum in Auckland as National Museum in Stockholm?

Thats very interesting coming from a person from New Zealand! You people spend to much time with your animals then with eachother so i guess your looks comes from there!

I understand that you are bitter coming from a country with no history and sad views on women and life!

Move on matey and move back....

You need to pal up with a Stockholmer...there is a world of life in the city, as with any major city. You just have to know where to look.

Take her hot air ballooning over the city, or on a boat cruise through the islands. Pick a part of town like Gamla Stan and go in every door, you'll find a treasure trove of hidden eateries and pubs that you missed the first time around.

Take her to a dinner show or visit one (or more) of Stockholm's many different jazz or night clubs. Go to the casino for a night of gambling or to the Ice Bar for a "frozen" drink.

Take a day or quick overnight cruise on Silja line, go on a sightseeing or walking tour, take a side trip to öland or gottland, see glass blowing in Småland.

Go fishing, sky diving, scuba diving, windsurfing, or enjoy a game of paintball.

There is a never-ending list of things to do in Stockholm and the surrounding area - it just takes a little research to know what it is...

No, I don't think Auckland does? Why would it?

And as for drinking and throwing up, why would they want to do that? Besides there's already plently of puke to aviod while walking down the street on Saturday and Sundays. :) I don't think your Nanny State with your Nanny Bottle Shops can quite stop the Drunk Swede Syndrome, though which country is any better these days?

As for animals, wow, they were the good old days, where people could farm before the EEC decided Europe wanted crap European goods instead of quality goods from elsewhere.

It's a good thing that's a little relaxed now since you lucky Swedes adore NZ lamb judging by how much of it is in Supermarkets, not to mention quality fruits and vegetables.

As for animals, besides deer (which most people farm in NZ now) I've seen more in Sweden. The wildlife here (not the shitty and drunken wild life you see on the streets) is pretty cool.

It's been cool to see badgers, foxes, pheasants, squirrels, wild deer and bats here. NZ doesn't really have much in the way of wildlife. :(

Helsinki was fun, Hong Kong, Honolulu, Tokyo, Seoul... all great cities though Stockholm is beautiful, it just doesn't have much of a good vibe, I'm not blaming ou guys, I think it's a lack of sunshine thing. :)

Thanks for you reply :) It is hard to know what to do living in Uppsala, it would be good to know someone from Stockholm.

We both worked in Casinos, so that is a big no go! :)

However, I think they are going to check out the icebar.

Take a day or quick overnight cruise on Silja line, go on a sightseeing or walking tour, take a side trip to öland or gottland, see glass blowing in Småland.

Since they're not here for long, the cruise thing wasn't an option :), they're doing their own walking tour though it's pretty much what we did last time they were here. It's a shame they couldn't travel as I think that would have been more exciitng.

Go fishing, sky diving, scuba diving, windsurfing, or enjoy a game of paintball.

All things they already do and have done in NZ, Samoa and Ireland.

Where can you scuba dive here? Is there much to see?

He's really in to diving (she isn't) so they might plan to do that next time they're here.

Yep, :) It's a shame you were the only Swede that even tried to prvoe me wrong, it's easy to lash out.. shame they had nothing to say.

Anyhow, with the Taste of Sweden festival going on this weekend, the Ice Bar and walking around, I'm sure they'll be busy!

Thanks again for your informative reply.

To everyone else: I knew you couldn't prove me wrong. Sad.
