This is what you do on A RAINY DAY!!!

I hate to give this gem away :) (because I love this place) but I will feel sorry for anybody who happens to be in stockholm while its raining. Therefore, I am giving this gem away to any and all tourists that plan to visit stockholm.

In addtion to the obvious museums like Vasa museum, Modern Museum etc. there is an unbelievable IMAX theatre where you can watch the most amazing documentaries on various topics. The place is called COSMONOVA.

Check and out research this site and you will thank me afterwards. Trust my word!

Enjoy!!

Yes, I agree. If this museum was located near Gamla stan or near the Vasa museum it would be on all tourists must see-list.

But it is nevertheless in central Stockholm, only a 10 minutes underground ride to nearest station UNIVERSITETET (yes it is the University in Swedish).

And not only for rainy days...

Cosmonova is definitely and perhaps unfortunately, off the track...

However, I personally love it and so did all of my foreign guests that I took there.

Im going on a 3 day trip to Stockholm this weekend, and unfortunately, the weather is reported to be gloomy.

Thank god my boyfriend is interested in Mars and wants to see The Red Planet.

Don't know of much else to do if bad weather. Perhaps indoor malls etc.

Shoot.

Yes, being a Stockholmer I still go to Cosmonova when interesting movies are up.

If you are more adventurous:

Don´t forget going to a indoor Go Kart hall and race against your friends. There is one called Racetown very close to the Central Station. http://www.racetown.se Basically in the same building structure.

There are also a few indoor climbing places, http://www.klatterverket.se

Being a bit of a garden buff, I would also suggest a visit to Bergianska trädgården (the Botanical Gardens) across the road from Cosmonova. Although it's much more fun to walk around the gardens in good weather, the Edvard Anderson greenhouse is a great place for coffee on a cold, rainy day, surrounded by tropical heat and bouganvilla! You don't have to pay to get into the café, but I would advise paying the 50 SEK entrance fee and wandering around desert gardens, the Meditteranean section, etc. and then parking yourself with a coffee on the terrace inside the greenhouse (which is for fee-payers only). On warm sunny days you should forsake the café here and head for the Orangerie, which has an outdoor área next to the herb/kitchen garden: Lovely stuff!
