Affordable Danish food in Copenhagen

Hello,

I will be in Copenhagen for the first time Sept 21-27. I plan to try the smorrebord (Ida Davidson's has been suggested), but would also love to try some traditional danish dishes. Can anyone recommend bars, cafes, restaurants serving traditional fare that is not too expensive?

Thnks.

Smørrebrød is a very traditional dish - But it is ONLY served for lunch. You almost never eat Smørrebrød for dinner.

And almost all the restaurants i know of serving REAL danish food is outside Copenhagen. The reason for that is that we just love all the forreign food in the city restaurants and the real danish kitchen is kept at home in our own kitchens.... But in the "country side" especially at places called a "Kro" you are able to get real danish food....

But here are some places near the center:

But you should NOT miss this place:

Try Restaurant Nytorv - they have traditional Danish food/dishes...and they're not expensive compared to many other places. Centrally situated at Nytorv, 15...the first square on your right hand on Strøget (the pedestrian street) when coming from the City Hall square.

Have nice trip
