Best Area to stay in Copenhagen/and great hotel

Can anyone help me.

We are flying into Copenhagen the day before a cruise in the Baltic. We would love to stay in a wonderful hotel in an area where we can explore the best of Copenhagen.

We are landing in CPH and taking a Norwegian cruise.

How do you get from the airport to a hotel in the tourist area? And how far away is the airport? Also, where is the cruise port for the Norwegian cruise line?

Norwegian Sun is expected to dock at Orient Pier in Copenhagen Freeport.

I would suggest havig a look at Hotel Kong Arthur, Ibsens Hotel and the Hotel Sankt Petri. All are situated conveniently in cozy areas and 5 mins walk to the Nørreport Metro station, from where it is 20 mins to the airport by metro line.

Central Copenhagen is rather compact and very walkable.

Thank you for those suggestions.

How far is the port from Central Copenhagen? How much would a taxi be from the airport to Central Copenhagen and then again from these hotels to the pier?

There will be some elderly people who may not be able to take a suitcase on a train.

Copenhagen Freeport is approx. 6 km from the city centre.

A taxi for max 4 persons will cost approx. DKK 200 from the airport to Central Copenhagen and approx. DKK 150 from Central Copenhagen to the pier.

I am going to be on the Norwegian "STAR", not the Norwegian Sun.

I assume it's the same port?

Thank you for the hotel suggestions, but are there any real nice boutique or bed and breakfast hotels in the Nyhavn area?

What other ares are interesting to explore?

And what about a harbor tour? Where would you do this?

Norwegian Star is not on the cruise list for Copenhagen for 2012.

Berths for cruise list 2013-14 have not yet been allocated.

Thank you Hans.

I am doing this cruise in June of 2013.

I will ask this question again closer to my sail.

I have another question regarding hotels.

We do not need to stay IN Nyhavn.....close by would be fine.

Do any of the area hotels include breakfast ? I like staying in hotels that have character. Any suggestions? I do not need to pay 500dollars for a room. Views are also a plus.

Also, do I have to be concerned about heat the second week of June. Most of the hotels that I looked at do not have air conditioning.

I looked at the Hotel Christian IV, sounded good, but decided finally on the Strand Hotel.

Thank you all for the advise.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a driver pick up from the airport? Can't do the train. Taxi is an option, but sometimes it isn't much more for a private driver. I would like to inquire.

Any thoughts?
