Best Pastries in Copenhagen

Which bakery in Copenhagen makes the best pastries? What are names of your favorite pastries there?

I've had almond kringles (they look like giant pretzels and has almond paste in it) in Solvang, California (Danish capital of the USA). I don't know if that is authentic Danish pastry, but they are delicious! Will I be able to find them in Copenhagen? If so, where??

As Soljet's article mentioned, the oldest bakery in Copenhagen, Conditori La Glace, is in my oppinion still among the best.

An alternative could be Lagkagehuset on Christianshavn

Or one of the 6 Reinh. Van Hauen all over the city.

They all have an excelent variety of bread and pasteries.

I would absolutely agree with "Lagkagehuset". As a bonus, they have the best bread around - not going cheap, but totally worth it.

Best pastries? Try "mandelhorn" at Lagkagehuset, they are croissantshaped, with a delicious almond filling.

Have a great stay!

Starting in 1957 when my husband and I, he is Danish, went to spend the summer with his family, my mother-in-law and her mother took us to La Glace. Over the years we have gone there at least once on every trip when visiting family and our children and now grandchildren have enjoyed the pastries.

Our Mor, Far and Mormor are all gone now but it is a wonderful family tradition.

There are excellent bakeries in neighborhoods where one goes to get the daily morning pastries including Kringle and breads. But La Glace is a great experience to visit and sit with a fancier pastry and coffee. You can also take out pastries to take home.

LindaRoo, take note of the other users advice here, and go straight to La Glace.

They serve some of the best pastries in CPH. By far!

Oh and I come straight from Solvang and if you think their pastry is great - wait untill you have tasted it from La Glace. ;)

Lagkagehuset is great, but in my humble opinion it is

somewhat overrated and hyped.

Another option is to drop in at Emmery's, a bakery/coffeeshop that also serves other specialities and sandwiches for lunch etc.

They use good quality products and has several branches across the city. Try their coffee with a pastry!

Hi

a good way to explore Copenhagen, by trying out the bakerys..!

Besides Lagkagehuset (Christianshavn and the tourist info in the city center) and all the Rhein. Van Hauns, I can also recommend Marstand in Frederiksberg and Johansens Konditori also Frederiksberg and Amager.

Enjoy!

Linda, when you go to La Glace, be sure to try their homemade hot chocolate! It's delicious.

I also read that the government in DK has banned the use of "trans fats" in restaurants, which goes back a couple of years. We *never* noticed this at La Glace; that's how delicious their pastries are.

Have a fun trip!
