Catamarans in September

Hi

I have found the links for the Flying Cat and the Flying Dolphin from Pireus so answered by own question about how to get there, however in September approximately 12/9/2011 would the ferries still be running a number of times a day as they are in April.

Also would all the restaurants etc still be open or would the island be winding down. We were thinking about spendidng perhaps 7 days there but would not enjoy it if there arent a number of restaurants to choose from or if the island is too quiet with not many people at dinner in the restaurants etc. We hate to be the only ones in a restaurant as we enjoy the atmosphere of a busy restaurant for dinner.

Thank you for all your advice. Hydra sounds lovely but not sure whether to try to fit in as one of 5/6 islands to visit in September.

Hi there

CATs and Flying Dolphins will certainly be running in September, I don't know what the exact schedules are, but the season runs until the last week of October, plus of course, the islands have a resident population who need to reach the mainland and get back.

September should see pretty much everywhere open, again, the season runs till late October. One thing we have noticed during our last few trips to various islands in Greece is that people are tending to dine earlier in the evenings, on a few occasions last Sept in Rhodes, we had a few beers then walked to various restaurants at 9pm-ish to find many diners finishing their meals, and lots of vacant tables.

H

Thanks for the advice. Do you think that the schedules from Hydra to Athens will be similar to the times running now, as we will then be flying into other islands so will need early morning ferries out of Hydra. At the moment they are showing 7.06am from what I can see, though somewhere else it showed 8.30am.

So difficult to plan especially when we have flights in and out of the islands and back to Australia to book very soon.

Not sure whether to drop Hydra off the trip because it could be too difficult to incorporate. However I am having the same problems with lots of the other islands as well.

There is always a Catamaran or Dolphin leaves Hydra around 07:00 as it starts from Porto Heli around 06:00 and makes its way to Piraeus via Poros.

It arrives in Piraeus about 08:45.

There are regular ferries to Hydra several per day, and yes September would be roughly the same.

Of course you miss the same day 07:30 ferries to some of the Cyclades islands, however 1 night in Piraeus/Athens would sort that.

There is no problems at all with your other islands in the Cyclades.
