We would like to take a tip to Hydra from Athens. Does anyone know the difference in price between boat and hydrofoil?
i would recomend hydrofoil..you save time and than the old boat..the cost of the ticket with returning is about 26 euros with hydrofoil...so no problem ...and you make the trip in the half time
sorry i mean about 36 euros with returning...
Agree with Gas
Conventional boats will take for ever
Gas are the new fast/catamarans do the route?
Hydrofoils are great but have limited space outside to see the wonderful sea
yes buhalid....flying cat 1 and some nice hydrofoils of hellenic sea ways are been set on these routes
You can get a hydrofoil (dolphin) or the larger more comfortable Flying Cat, both from Hellenic Seaways, from Piraeus to Hydra for 40 euros return. Journey takes about 1.5 hours and you can book online at www.dolphins.gr where there is also a timetable. The ferry to Hydra from Piraeus cannot be booked in advance and costs 20 euros return. They go less frequently than the hydrofoils taking approximately 3.5 hours, stopping at Poros on the way. They only leave Piraeus once a day at 8:00am each morning. You can get the X96 Express Bus from Athens International Airport and you want the last stop which drops off right next the the gate into the harbour. The ticket office is just inside the harbour gate and the ferry is opposite it. There are photos of all the different options and full instructions for getting to Hydra on the island's website www.HydraDirect.com - hope that helps.
