Ferries from Rhodes to Tilos Island

I seem to have trouble finding a reliable source to see when the ferries travel from Rhodes to neighbouring Tilos island.

I want to stay to Tilos for 4 or 5 nights starting 17 or 18 June 2013, depending on ferries for my departure and return to Rhodes island.

I really want to book acommodation on tilos nd I need to know the ferry timetables. Help please fellow travellers!!

Hello, Jen, this may help you... though it is still way to early to book tickets for that far ahead!

It is too early for the summer schedules, but have a look at http://www.12ne.gr/en/index.asp

Also the catamaran Tilos Star use to sail frequently. Last summer they had some engine trouble, and no money to mend it, so I dont know what happens this summer. Tilos Star departs from the sight-seeing pier in the Mandraki harbour, where also other boats for Tilos may be found.

Mid June isn't in peak season, so you may well travel without any pre-bookings and fix your plan when you are there.

thanks guys for your prompt replies. The Tilos travel site I have been too and is a bit confusing. I sounds good that I June is not too busy and I can perhaps book a ferry when I get to Rhodes, but the accommodation

will be booked out. I have tried the web site direct ferries.co.uk and it freezes on me when I try to change the date of departure that I amlooking for.

Maybe it is too early and the summer timetables are not out yet.

Once again, thanks for your help

cheers

The best web site for all Greek ferries is www.gtp.gr It will show both actual schedules, and planned but not yet released schedules. (They use to be confirmed). But as said, it is still too early.

You will not have any problems with finding accomodation on the spot in June, unless it is one particular hotel you must have.

Cheers again.

Hi,

The link provided by Periscope to Dodekanisos Seaways above http://www.12ne.gr/en/index.asp is the one you want. They operate fast cats and last year the Dodekanisos Express was doing round robin trips between a number of the islands several times per week and I would expect them to be doing similar this year. Departures at the moment (February) are on Tuesdays and Fridays with departures from Rhodes at 8:30am and arrival on Tilos at 10:30am (via Chalki). Return available on same days/boat at 3.25pm with arrival back to Rhodes for 5:30pm.

If memory serves me right, this is similar timings to what they were doing last summer.

Cheers,

Dave.

In June, Rhodes to Tilos ferries are about 6 days a week, excl Sat. You need to look about 1 month before for accuracy and then check with local agencies and buy tickets.

http://www.gtp.gr/

Most ferry ticket agencies are located around the New Market building in Rhodes town. They will point out on the map where the ferries actually depart from. Also booths by the respective ferry departure points.

On Tilos, Livadi, this is the ferry ticket agency this is posted in their window, updated as the season progresses. You buy tickets there as well.

tilos-travel.com/tilos_ferry_schedules.php

That is very clear, ferries go to more than one island, often going to Symi and Chalki first.

Note the actual departure points as well in Rhodes town as 3 quite widely spaced quays are used depending on which ferry it is. Mandraki to Commercial harbour is 20 min walk(1 mi).

Sea Star - Mandraki

Dodecanese Seaways Cats - Kolonna quay

Bluestar - Commercial harbour

Individual ferry companies websites:

http://www.12ne.gr/

http://www.bluestarferries.com/

http://www.anes.gr/

Just for the general idea, times and ferries may well change... last year - Mon 09:00 Sea Star, 16:00 Bluestar: Tues 09:00 Dodecanese Seaways Cat, 18:30 Sea Star.

Don't worry about ferry tickets/timetables too far in advance. I have stayed on Tilos many times in June. I just buy tickets a day or two before. Once on Tilos it is very easy because it's very small and the info is all there, simple.

Accommodation is not booked out in June, so if you have to, just alter your schedule by a day, no problemo.

Thanks Dave and Retired Hippy.

I feel fully informed now and I will just book accommodtion on Tilos and Rhodes and if need be just change the booking by a day either way.

Great sites you both posted.
