Returned from Kos 2 weeks ago, we exchanged money at our Hotel, we took Euro Travellers cheques, the rate was 1.20, and they charged 1 euro for every 50 exchanged.

We found drinks and food were the same prices as in uk, £3.20 a pint of beer, did not see any places in Kos Town offering beer at cheap prices to lure you in.

Make sure you take plenty of money with you, as on average we spent £70 -£80 per day and we did stay half board, so only had to buy lunch and drinks. Did go to nice bars and restaurants, like to splurge now and again.

We also went on a couple of trips, which of course came into the £70-80. Catch the local buses as a 5 min taxi ride was £5-6.

Hope this helps,

Have a great holiday, it's a lovely island

Just come back from Kos Town. Boat trips are 30 Euros. Small beers 3 Euros glass of wine 3 Euros. 7 euros for 2 sun beds and a brolley. for a starter and mains (dep on what you order) with 1/2 litre of wine 17 Euros. We went down bar street where the drinks are expensive 6 euros for a vodka and coke. But the normal bars are a little cheaper. i spent £450.00 for the week and ate out twice a day and drank loads, we were 7 girls on a hen week and one night we got back to the appartment at 8.30am so if you think we had been drinking from 11pm (though some had water for a while)then £450.00 is not a lot, we also did boat trip and went to the Tingaki Beach every day so the bus fares and sunbeds worked out at 10 Euros a day. i changed some money in Kos Town can't remember the name of the exchange place and got 125 Euros to the pound and no com.
