Looking for a moderate to higher end hotel, close to beach and restaurants, but not too noisy. Where on the island would you suggest? Should we rent a car? What are the best beaches to go to? Thanks,

291 helpful votes Hello!
Excluding the beach (what's "the best beaches to go to"?Sandy ones? Pebbly ones" Organised with parasols and sun loungers? Watersports around? Windy to do windsurfing? Calm to relax? Secluded or with plenty of beach bars and restuarants around? Nudist? Shallow? Deep? ... ????) , what are the other interests you may have? Is it important to you to be near a real town where people actualy live, or you are ok with a sea side resort as far as there are some bars and restaurants around?
Most importantly, what kind of requirements you have from accomondation, what is your budget, and WHEN you plan to visit?
It is impossible to help you if you don't give some pointers!
I thought I gave quite a bit of info.....beach, restaurants and not too noisy.....what are the different areas to consider???? Also, would a car be helpful to visit other parts of the Island?

291 helpful votes I am not a weirdo trying to spy you, I am just willing to help. On the other hand I don't have time to write an essay right now on how is every single part of the island in every single month of the year. Naousa and Parikia are usually not too noisy on May and June and after half of September, while on July and August they are sort of a zoo. On the other hand, for example Aliki may be great at July while it's going to feel very isolated on end of September. If you look on a map, every sea side town offers a beach, and some sort of restaurants, a few or a lot... A car in general is helpful as it gives you plenty of flexibility. You can reach most places from Parikia and Naousa during high season on a public bus, while shedules are very limited off season, and are so and so during shoulder season.
Hi SOUP-ER,
Mariha is only trying to help. The more specific you are, the better advice you will be given. When you ask "What are the best beaches to go to?", that is a matter of opinion. You may want an organized beach with sun-loungers, umbrellas, and beach bars, while I prefer something with none of those things. You may think the best beach is a long sandy one, while I prefer a sheltered cove with a mixture of sand and pebbles. Another important factor is time of year - somewhere that is quiet in June and September may be crowded and noisy in July and August.
For the record, I think Naoussa is the best place to stay on Paros, but for the best beaches you will either have to take a water taxi to Kolymbithres or Langheri in Naoussa Bay, or bus or car to one of the east coast beaches like Santa Maria or Chrissi Akti.
Thank you Heimdall. That was all I was trying to get....suggest an area and I will do further research. I am planning to be there the end of June or beginning of July. I like a quiet beach that is pretty with beautiful water that doesn't get crowded if possible. I am not looking for activities. If there is a beach bar to get a drink that would be nice.
What hotel would you suggest in Naoussa? I would like something that I could walk to town but not be in the crunch of things and it should have a pool.
Thanks, I know people are busy and it takes time to respond.
Aha! You have inadvertently let slip some further information. Now we know that you are not planning to go right now, but probably in 2011. That is another useful fact that would have helped our experts focus on the best advice for u.
What kind of a response was that???
Just a reaction to your "I thought I gave quite a bit of information ... beach, restaurants and not too noisy.." when in fact you had not provided the vital info of dates... and that includes whether it would be THIS august or NEXT ... there may be many accommodations that you would love, but which would already be fully booked for 2010 August, so we would not suggest them, whereas they'd be very good choices for next year.
I'll have to admit that I stay on nearby Antiparos, which has all the things you seek except high end hotels. (most people looking for luxury accommodation on Antiparos rent villas). I often take day trips to Naoussa and other parts of Paros, so am familiar with that island as well.
You were asking about Paros, though, and I consider Naoussa to be the most desirable place to stay, but won't do what some 'experts' do and quote from Trip Advisor hotel reviews. You can find a list of Naoussa hotels at http://www.parosweb.com/paros-accommodation/paros-hotels.html , then cross-check yourself for reviews on Trip Advisor.
thanks!
