Naxos hotel locations

Hi!

Any suggestions on where to stay in Naxos? So far I thought I wanted to stay in the St. George Beach area but then I read that it wasn't that nice and now I'm unsure. But I do want to be close to town...

We definitely want to spend time at the beach - so much so that we don't even feel that a pool is necessary at the hotel.

Any area and hotel suggestions? We would like to stay within a budget of $150-$175 / night.

Thanks for your help!

Just back,,,,no problem with high denomination

notes on the Islands or Athens ...changed two 50€ notes every day. We took majority in € used our CC for car hire and a present and had 150£ with us..... Room safe a given!

Never used ATMs but there didn't seem any problems. All I saw where working.

The far end of st George's beach is beautiful

We spent most of our time down there last Sept This June we stayed in Agia Anna with beaches in the area nicer IMO we still went into town some days/nights but really theres no need, plenty in the AA area to keep you occupied.

Sorry for the first post..my I phone is playing up

Hotels, sorry can't help you there... We stayed in an apartment cost 20€per night for 18 days which was perfect....hotel near us cost 3-4 more rooms were smaller, no sea view (we had) they however had breakfast and a small pool....still can't get over our price.... Geart vista,

free AC, Safe, WiFi(fastest ever),wine, veg, fruit etc,etc....hope we can find some more days holidays this year;-)

Wherever you decide you'll have a fabulous time with some of the best beaches in the Med on Naxos.

suggest try anna beach studios in Agios Prokopios, 6 rooms 9studios swimmingpool 6km from town transport to/from the port on request...

Agios Prokopios is the first sandy beach of an uninterupted serie on the SWcoast stretching as far as Agiassos...

Anna Beach studios located at 200 steps from the beach in quiet rural scenery.

I recommend Liana Hotel at Agios Prokopios. Large well equipped rooms, across a small road from a beautiful beach. Free wifi, safe and air con. Nice breakfasts and lovely people. Close to the bus stop, shops and restaurants. I liked the town but didn't want to stay there, its nice to go in of an evening.

The beach is lovely and clean and the sunbeds are not crammed in.

Rooms are all very quiet and spotlessly clean. Just spent 12 nightt there - not done a review yet.

Hello fromBC

You have been getting good suggestions but none really addresses your concern and that is that you heard that St George Beach isn't very good. That in fact is not correct it is a good beach about a kilometer long in a crescent shape the further along it you go the fewer people. It is quite lovely

It is a sand beach and it is directly adjacent to Chora Naxos town so you get a beach holiday with all the activities of town

Now having said that there are better beaches on Naxos and they have been mentioned by other posters who are absolutely correct in their comments. We are not big beach people so we stay at St George and use the beach for a couple of hours a day. On the dys that we want to spend the full day on a beach we hop the local bus and head out to Plaka beach. We prefer to be near town for the evening dining and activities and commute out to the west coast beaches The one thing you need to consider is when are you going. If it is in high season July and August st George willbe fairly crowded (which suggests it is popular ) while the outer beaches will be far less crowded. If you are going at shoulder season May June September then none of the beaches will be crowded. Hope that gives you some perspective.

In high season the outer beaches of Agi Anna and Prokopios are just as crowed as St George and also certain areas of Plaka. Doesn't help that they have become infested with congested sun loungers.
