Really want to go to Mykonos- help needed!

Hi!

I'm hoping someone on here may be able to help!

We decided to check Mykonos out (largely based on the look of Cavo Paradiso & the DJ's playing at the time we are hoping to go!!!), BUT!! We can't seem to book for anything less than £900 each through the tour op's. We're gonna cane that it one week on spending money - I can see it coming! So that's gonna be close to a £3.5k holiday for 2!!! Blimey Guvner!!

We need to go on 18th Aug for 2 weeks (not flexible on dates due to work) - can anyone point me in a direction to find cheaper, or is this the minimum we're looking at? Also whe're the best resort to look at for peaceful in the day but nice bars etc at night to go to on the nights we don't go to C.Paradiso, which will be 3 definites.

If we could get a flight & hotel it may be more affordable but I am having no luck on the net with this either!! Calling all Mykonos heads!! Please help us - desperate to get to this club!! Thank you!!

Sarah :)

Hmmm....not sure about package deals with UK operators. But have you tried booking on Easy Jet to Athens yet? Try that first. If you can't get a booking for your dates try something with a connection for your flight. You can ferry or hydrofoil over to Mykonos once you get to Athens.

As far as hotels go.....if you don't want to stay in Town, Platis Yialos offers some economical hotels directly on the beach. You can bus it to Town in less than 20 minutes from here. Lady Anna, Kosmoplaz, and Argo are some of the hotels. I am not sure what you are looking to spend per night, but these are some of the more economical choices in High season.

You're leaving on a Friday, and I remember seeing a weekly Friday charter flight nonstop from Gatwick to Mykonos. I don't know if that might help you at all with the cost of your trip.

I've attached info from a previous post on nonstops. There are 2 links for UK flights.

* Charters are available. Found some from LGW at http://www.justtheflight.co.uk

* More UK charters at http://www.firstchoice.co.uk/flights/

* Aegean - from ATH, new jets; earn LH miles; use their website to avoid paper ticket delivery fees charged by Orbitz http://www.aegeanair.com

* Olympic - from ATH, most flights per day

* Transavia - flies from AMS http://www.transavia.com/en

* Eurofly nonstop from Italy: http://www.eurofly.it/

* Air Europa - reportedly flew MAD to Greek islands in the past http://www.air-europa-com/en/default.html

* LTU nonstop from Dusseldorf http://www.ltu.com/world/

* Air Berlin: nonstop from various German airports www.airberlin.com/site/index.php?LANG=eng

* Hapagfly nonstop from some German cities hapagfly.com/westsite/…deu_001141.html

Sarah

XL Airways flys from Gatwick to Mykonos on 18th Aug. Price is £288 each return.

Have a look at Arhontiko Pension for your accommodation, we're going next week and it's had fantastic reports on here and the lady that runs the place has been really helpful with our booking. I thought the price was fab as the prices were mad for most of the places we looked at ( I too plan to spend lots of wonga whilst I'm there so don't want to blow it all on a hotel room )

Check out the websites 'XL.com' 'mykonos-arhontiko.com'

Good luck chick.

Thanks so much people!!

Really appreciated! We have seen a reasonable flight through Easy jet to Athens and then we are prepared to ferry over.

However!!!!! STILL having probs with accomodation - it's through the roof!!!

We're starting to think that maybe the £800-900 package deals might be the best thing to do now! What is the crack with the accomodation cost?!! I know it's one of (or the?) most expensive island in Greece... but caman...!! We've got some partying to do, while also relaxing, and that aint gonna be cheap!!

I agree Babygrey... we certainly don't wanna blow money on a flash room! (Although it would be nice to be in the position to!). All we want is somewhere clean, bright and with air con (near , or on the beach!) How come I can only find hotels that are £135.00 minimum per night! That's nearly a grand each for two weeks, and that seems to be the MINIMUM!! - is this normal!!? Am I looking in the wrong places?! I would love to say we'd hit the campsite - but.. er... nah! We'd like some comfort on holiday - but not top end luxury which is all I am finding and at a ridiculous cost!!

Has anyone stayed or know of anywhere that is decent and with air con that is reasonable, or is "Mykonos reasonable" something alien that we have to get our heads round!!?

Thanks again to you all for your input!!! :)

How Do !

Well Arhontiko is £777 for the room for 2 wks. It's got a pool, air con etc and it's 5 mins from town. They have an hourly shuttle that'll take you. Nearest beach is 5 mins drive. We're gonna get a car/moped then we can check out all the beaches and hot spots that everyone's been writing about.

Hope you get sorted.

If you arrive by ferry there will be loads of people meeting the boat offering rooms - these can be quite good value at about 40 EUR an night.

Or try http://www.mykonosrooms.gr/

Have stayed their twice.

A good location in town, basic but clean rooms with Air-con and great views.
