Hi, well it all depends how much time you have also when you go. If you are short on time, I would fly Athens to Santorini - a real fast flight and then take the ferries to Mykanos and then Athens. Athen to Santorini on a ferry is very long, but if you have the time its relaxing - bring a book. During the high season, the availability of the the ferries is great, but in the low season there will be few. I hope this helps.

We took an early fast ferry from Santorini to Mykonos, we were in Mykonos in the early afternoon. Then you can take another fast ferry to athens from mykonos, anywhere from 24 hours depending which port you are going to in athens (pireas or rafina), or you can always take the plane back to athens.

A travel agent will be your best bet getting those arranged for you.

To fully appreciate travel in the Greek islands, travel on the ferry network is, in my view, essential. If time is short flights to/from some islands are available but the whole point of Greece is to relax and slow the pace of life. Enjoy the experience of putting your schedule together - check www.gtp.gr before you leave. Unless you are travelling around a religous holiday seats will be plentiful in the summer if book a few days ahead. There are travel agencies on all the islands and ferry prices are fixed - no need to shop around for the best price. Remember that those islands with only a small "local" airport or indeed none at all will be possibly be quieter and more authentic. Try Naxos- beaches. mountains, nightlife and more , without the tourist numbers of Mykonos and Santorini.

Can anybody advise as to the likelihood of rough weather/cancellatons of ferries from Mykonos to Athens in late May. The flight seems to cost about 110E per person more and we are just trying to decide on our options.

Also, does anybody have any comments at all re: Myconium Ambassador?
