Old port and new port in Mykonos

Hi,

I will go to Mykonos from Santorini by ferry.

The hotel told me that they are near old port.

I don't know if I will get Mykonos via Old port or new port.

The ferry company told me that it depends on the weather.

What are the names of old and new port?

I would like to know what is the distance between old and new port.

How to transport between two port? bus or taxi?

Thank you and regards,

Clay

Hi

Your probably coming with the Flying Cat from Santorini, it very rarely goes to the new port, which is about 1and half kilometer from the old. The weather conditions have to extremely bad in order for this to take place. There are public buses that transfer tourists to the old port.

Hi,

I am a little confused.

The ferry company told that there is only one port in Mykonos.

It is new port named "Mykonos port".

Could someone tell me?

Thank you and regards,

Clay

Hi

The company has misinformed you, there are 2 ports here, the old which is small, and the large one, where cruise ships dock also. Tell which company you coming with and I will tell you which port you will come into. If you have a accomodations and have transfers, most hoteliers know which port ferries come into.

Dearest ladyMykonosGreece,

Would you be able to know which port I'll be arriving? I'm coming to Mykonos from Santorini by superjet (Sea Jets is the company name) on May 23. Wasn't sure if I should book a hotel before I go, since you said there'll be tons of university students...

Thank you so much in advance!!

just to elaborate on ladymykonos' help.

OLD PORT is in Mykonos town...it is a 5 minute walk in the town and MOST boats, espcially the flying cats, ferries etc go here.

the NEW port is in an area called TOURLOS which is about 1.5 km but can be seen from town. This is mostly Highspeed company and cruise ships.

Also like ladymykonos says, if you are staying at a particular hotel and they know your arrival time, they KNOW which port you are coming in and will be there to meet you.

Can you tell me which port it would be for the Nissos Chios. We will coming to Mykonos in July and then leaving on the Flyingcat 4 for Santorini. Are they at the same port (old port)? Thanks for your help.

Nissos Chios goes into the new port, Flying Cat will be leaving from the old port.
