Spinalonga

Hi

Just two weeks to go.

Is it too far to go to spinalonga by public transport.

Don't really want to drive, are the roads busy, never drove on other side of the road.

Staying at harbour, organised trips seen very expensive with our company.

Thank you

You are cheaper booking trips locally rather than through the travel companies. If you were to go via public bus you would catch a bus to Heraklion (we hire a car but driving time between the two is about an hour) and then a bus to Agios Nikolaos where you could catch a ferry or catch another bus to Plaka and catch a ferry from there. Driving time from Heraklion to Ag Nik is out an hour nd Ag Nik to Plaka about 15 minutes if you decided to go from there.

As soon as you get away from the large towns the roads aren't busy and driving is pretty easy. You just take your time until you get used to it. Also sitting on the other side of the car makes it easier to naturally drive on the right hand side of the road.

We used a local company opposite the entrance to the harbour. They were very reasonable. Sorry I can't remember the name.
