Are there enough facilities to keep 14yr old content?

Seriously thinking of booking up, we are taking 14yr old son and would like to know if there are enough activities available to keep him occupied. I read that the slides had been removed - this was one of the reasons i was thinking of booking as my son loves waterparks. can u tell me if the lazy river has also been removed and what has replaced this? Also any comments on the night time entertainment pls?

Many thnx

Hi there

There are three waterparks on Crete, one south of Chania at Varipetra ("Limnopoulis"), one at the eastern end of Hersonissos ("Star Beach") and one on the road to Kastelli from Hersonissos ("Aquaplus").

Why not conside staying somewhere close to one of these as an alternative? Plenty of hotel accommodations in all areas mentioned.

Maybe you have already been on vacation to Crete? There are things to do in Ierapetra for a 14yr old! Water sports at Waikiki-beach, if you stay at Petra Mare you will have a "mini waterland". Or why not pack the backpack and wander of to Vainia or some of the other small villages, but don't take the easy way = the road! And don't forget to try the restaurants at the "greek boardwalk" - closest to the fort. And you should, of course, go to Chrissi Island! Many people are talking about Crete like there is only one coast - the north - or only one area - Chania. But the island has so much to give and Ierapetra is perfect if you want to get close to the greek every day life but you think that spending time in a village would be too quiet. And, at least for the moment, you don't have to mungle among a lot of tourists!

Maybe your son likes to make his first scuba dive.

We make this program every day on the south coast of Crete. Its very easy to learn diving and not dangerous at all, since you dive with your private instructor with us.

Thanks Ialof for your message.

We have actually been to Aghios Nickolas twice and thoroughly enjoyed it. We ended up going to Turkey this year but we will visit southern Crete in the future.
