Heraklion nightlife and beaches?

HI!

This summer I am travelling for a first time to Crete with a few friends and we are looking for a good nighlife and also nice beaches...is the Heraklion a right place for us?

Hi there

Heraklion has lots of nightlife but the beaches are some way out of the city, to the west at Amoudara and to the east at Amnisos. I see from your other post that you will be staying in Hersonissos, there's plenty of nightlife there, bars, clubs, discos, everything you need.

Yes,I think we are going to stay in Hersonissos but we haven't decided for sure...could you also tell me something about Chania and Rethymno?

Thanks!

Chania and Rethymno are both lovely working towns. Both highly recommended for a visit, and both have better beaches than Hersonnisos. In terms of nightlife, there will be plenty going on, but not the same sort of party scene you will find in Hersonnisos. Both towns, particularly Chania, are also quite a long way from Heraklion airport.

If you are staying in Hersonnisos but don't find the beach adequate, hop on a bus to Stalis, less than 4km away, where the beach is lovely, or the other way to Anissaras or Analipsi, which may even be within walking distance, (depending on where you are staying).
