Best location for three days in Athens?

I'm just planning a trip to Athens and would really welcome some advice on the best location to stay. I am currently looking at the Plaka area and the Plaka hotel. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

thank you.

Stick to the Plaka, it is an excellent area to stay, near the Acropolis and with metro stations close at hand.

Plaka is excellent regarding the central areas like the Plaka district, Monastiraki and Thission with the ancient sites for the Ancient Agora, Roman Agora, Kerameikos and in the opposite direction Syntagma close by.

For Acropolis you will always have it within view, but it will be a walk to get there. You may also have the blue line on the metro from Monastiraki to Syntagma and change for the red line in direction Elliniki, one stop and you will be at the Acropolis station.

This album shows the Acropolis area. You may start your walk in the opposite direction than the album shows - i.e. start from Thission:
