Athens cruise port to Airport

How to get the pubic transportation from the cruise port to Athens Airport besides taxi and cruise airport transfer? We disembark at Athens on Nov 8 morning but our flight will not leave until 5 am on Nov 9. Is there a hotel near the Athens Airport we can stay for a day at a reasonable rate? Is there any locker in the airport to keep our luggages? We visited Acropolis last year. Besides Acropolis, are there any other attractions we can visit on that day?

You can take the metro from Piraeus to Athens, fare is 1,40 euros, its a 15 minute walk to the metro station from the cruise port,or you can get a bus to it.

Airport hotels are expensive you can try this one

As for sites, you can go up Fillopappou hill to get a view of Athens up to the sea,go to Plaka, ancient agora,Monastiraki,Benaki museum,Temple of Zeus and Andrian'a arch.

Hey and welcome 154943Athens:-) There is a dedicated express bus X96 from the port to the airport..takes about an hour+ depending on traffic..the only hotel AT the airport is the Sofitel and although pricey, doesn't get more convenient for that early moring check in..also saves you the hassles of any addt'l transferring..time can be money;-) There is also a luggage storage facility at the airport..Pacific Lmt..you can find details at the airport's official site at www.aia.gr/

As for sites, there are loads to consider..if you haven't yet had the chance to take in the New Akropolis Musuem at the base of the Akropolis, would highly recc it! You have loads of options..read up on all that's available and see what you think would make for a great finale in this incredible City! Happy planning..and EnjoY!

Sofitel (5*****), is opposite arrivals at Athens airport (50m).

We stayed for one night between flights, very nice, comfortable and convenient stay. Don't let 5***** prices put you off, booking in advance on line usually is a lot cheaper.

Sofitel...It quotes 140 euros for the night on the 8th of November,I think it is overpriced.

If you go directly from the port to your airport hotel, it means you must then return back to the centre of Athens for any sightseeing etc, and then back to your hotel. Hmm ...

Why not consider an Athens central hotel, quicker to arrive there, then do your sightseeing in town, have a dinner and so on.

From the centre it is very easy to travel for your flight with the Express bus leaving from Sintagma square.

Thank you for your valuable information. I have emailed the hotel and see if they have the best available rate room for us to stay for half a day. Thanks again.
