We are coming from the west coast of the USA in October but we always break up our travels with a stop elsewhere so we aren't wiped out at our final destination.
We arrive in Athens at 9:40 pm after spending a night in Frankfurt. Then we fly into athens. We will get our car and then stay near the airport for a night so we will have two nights in this time zone before heading out to truly do some exploring.
We are thinking we would head out early in the morning for the Acropolis to explore for a few hours before heading to Nafplio. I understand there are two entrances to the Acropolis; The main entrance and the "side" entrance. The side entrance has less of a line? Is that correct? Would it be best to park somewhere and take the metro in or if we arrive early, say around 8:00 at the side entrance, is there a place with reasonable parking fees for a few hours?
We will also stay in Athens at the end of our trip to explore for a couple of days.
