oporto to lisbon drive

Hi, we are planning to drive from oporto to lisbon in 1 day inland roads (we'll drive up on coast roads earlier) is this reasonable? (with kids).

How long will it take? Would it be better to stay somewhere just north of lisbon, rather than in lisbon, before our flight to Paris the following day?

Thanks

If you're to use mainly secondary roads, the trip will take about 5 to 6 hours (not including stops for eating, sightseeing, etc...).

If you became to tired you can catch one of the Highways (A1 or A8).

Thanks Sergio very helpful. THinking of foz de arelho for the week before oporto- is this a good base for beaches/windsurfing in addition to exploring central region- or should we think about further north.? THANKS

Foz do arelho is great.

Near "Lagoa de Obidos", Peniche, Nazaré....

It should be a good base for some windsfing trips....

In Foz do Arelho you'll windsurf mostly on a lagoon. Thereforwe, if you want some wavejumping, you should head 20 min south to Baleal and Peniche.

If there's no wind, you can always rent a surfboard and have some of the best waves in Europe.

Enjoy!

...and of course you must stay in Lisbon at least one day and one night before flying to Paris!

(there's also world class windsurfing in Guincho beach, just 25 min from Lisbon, driving in A5 motorway)
