5 day visit, no car Gaia or "upper" Porto

We want to be walking distance to city center. I know there is the metro but we like to walk.

I'm looking at accommodations and see that some in Gaia are 1km from the Luis I Bridge. While some in the Torrinha, Marques metro , Lapa metro areas are closer to 2km. But Gaia still feels "far" in my head because of it being over the river.

From all those places, for me the best location is torrinha. Rua de cedofeita (next to rua da torrinha) is already in the center. Lapa and marquês are good locations too. I wouldn't stay in gaia. you will have more restaurants, bars, nightlife if you stay in porto.

Gaia is well connected across the river to Porto city by the metro tram, which runs across the Dom Luis 1 bridge, as well as numerous bus routes. All trams and buses in Gaia are included within the Andante Tour card zones as per my reply to your other post.
