rail travel

which train station would we catch a train from Lisbon to Coimbra. The Metro nearest us is Marques de pombal.

We are thinking about booking our tickets in advance.

You can take the blue metro line to Santa Apolónia and a train from there.

"We are thinking about booking our tickets in advance."

Reservation is compulsory. If you book more than 5 days in advance you can get a 40% discount on the normal fare.

Also, be aware that there are two stations in Coimbra. Combra-B, the main station, where the trains from Lisbon trains stop, is a little over a mile (2km) from the city centre. There is a frequent service of local trains to the other station, just called Coimbra, which is in the centre. You do not have to pay extra!

thank you, I actually did not know that I needed a reservation.

If we take the second train that you mentioned, where in Coimbra would it drop us off. You may have already answered this questions. We are staying close to the University in Coimbra. Is there more then one stop once we are on the second train?

Thanks again
