Should we rent a car?

My wife and I will be travelling to Lisbon for 3+ days this Spring and are debating whether or not we should rent a car. We would like to take 2 day trips, one to Sintra/Cascais/Beaches and another to a couple local wineries.

Does anyone have any winery recommendations? specific regions?

Should we rent a car or rely on train/bus/taxi?

Thanks in advance for all of your help

If you want to have the freedom to do want you want when you want, yes. Sintra is a full day if you really explore it. Close to Sintra you have Colares for a traditional wine http://www.arcolares.com/

Train is ok for Sintra and Cascais and really inexpensive at about (a round trip ticket is equal to about $5.90) but going further afield a car is possibly a good idea. The cost of fuel here is about three times what you pay in the USA plus there are tolls on many highways, so you do have some math to do.
