Lisbon: 4 days, 3 women

3 of us are taking a last minute trip in April, looking for suggestions for where to stay in Lisbon. Looking for safe, affordable, and able to walk to areas. Everything we look at is "central" but do not know if that is just geographically or meets our stated interests. Looking for areas, or specific hotels.

Planning on possible train to Sintra for one day also, can we see enough on a one day trip, any comments?

Thanks so much for all comments!!!

The Avenida da Liberdade is a nice area to stay. Safe, restaurants and you can walk down town or take the metro. You'll be close to the Rossio train station for the train to Sintra. There are frequent trains, it's only a 39 min. train journey. http://www.cp.pt/

Sintra for a full day should be fine for a first visit: http://www.parquesdesintra.pt/en/
