Where to buy linen?

Hi!

We are planning a trip to Lissabon in April, and I've heard that you can buy good linen in Portugal. Where is a good department store or shop to buy duvet covers? Thanks!

They can be bought in most good large supermarkets but will they be cheaper or better quality than in Germany? I doubt it. Mine was made in India.

El Corte Ingles department store will have duvet cover sets.

They are not that common in Portugal. I recently bought a new set online from the UK because the local shops didn't offer a big selection to choose from. Sheets and pillow cases can be found everywhere, incl. the large supermarkets.

You get what you pay for.

Have a look at "Paris em Lisboa" a lovely store in Chiado (centre Lisboa):

When I was in Ponte da Barca this past October there was a local crafts shop that was adjacent to the Tourist Information office which had some very nice linen. I wasn't personally interested, but the woman working there told me it was a formerly important local product that they were trying to preserve. May not help you much in Lisbon, but just FYI.

Thanks everyone! I find decent linen in Germany very expensive. In fact I'd just ordered some duvet covers from the UK, but they had faults and were badly sewn. That's why I thought the upcoming trip to Lissabon would be a good opportunity to buy some. I will tatke a look at the shops you recommended.

@FTHW: Where did you order yours??

Just adding the following shops. They are rather expensive, but maybe nice to visit:

Madeira House: Rua Augusta 131-135

Principe Real: Rua da Escola Politecnica 12-14

@Alface: Lovely shop! They have really nice stuff, and at first I thought the prices were okay, but unfortunately I hadn't changed the language settings yet, and I was looking at bedspreads. The duvet sets cost three times as much.

@FTHW: The Principe Real looks lovely. Can't see prices on their website, but worth a visit.
