Itinerary and other questions

Another last moment desperate attempt to finalize our itinerary few days before the trip..

I am going to list our itinerary and questions here.. please suggest if it's a doable in 3 days or should we spend one more day in Lisbon..

Day 1:

Q1.Is a guided walking tour highly recommended?

-The Castle (Castelo de Sao Jorge), take tram 28 up hill. Q2. from which stop to which stop? and then walk towards?

. A walk near the river, around Padrao dos Descobrimentos. Q3. how to get there?

. Walk around Chiado, and hop on the Santa Justa lift. Q4. how to get there?

"From the lift there is a walkway leading right into the Bairro Alto area. Another way of getting to this area is taking a funicular known as Elevador da Gloria from the Praça dos Restauradores – we actually used this quite a lot as it was easy for us to walk to Praça dos Restauradores from our hotel and with Elevador da Gloria we got easy access to Bairro Alto without breaking into a sweat – and again it is for free if you have a day pass on the metro.

We did return to the Bairro Alto area several times during our trip as it is a great place for eating out and for nightlife in general. "

. Visit one of the Fado houses and then stay out for drinks in Bairro Alto. Q5. which ones are the best? how to get there?

. Day 2

A day trip to Sintra.

Q6. should we spend one more day in lisbon instead? if we do,what should we be doing?

Day 3

A day trip to the beach (Estoril)

come back for dinner in Lisbon

1. Re: Itinerary and other questions

here goes my suggestions (between *******):

Day 1:

Q1.Is a guided walking tour highly recommended?

****no need for a walking tour. a city Guide as the american express one will do the job :)

****

-The Castle (Castelo de Sao Jorge), take tram 28 up hill. Q2. from which stop to which stop? and then walk towards?

**** take the tram at "Chiado" and leave at "Miradouro Sta Luzia" where you'll be surprised with an astonishing sightseeing spot. from there to the castle is a matter of 5m walking...

check the tram's route here:

*****

. A walk near the river, around Padrao dos Descobrimentos. Q3. how to get there?

you can take Tram #15 and stop at "Mosteiro dos Jerónimos"

check the route here:

http://www.carris.pt/en/tram/15E/ascendente/

red icon on the route represent subway station.

you can take the tram from these subway stations:

blue line: "Pç. Figueira" or "Pç Comercio"

green line: "Cais Sodré"

plan your trip / check metro diagram here:

*******

. Walk around Chiado, and hop on the Santa Justa lift. Q4. how to get there?

tram #28 will take you there and also submay;

"Baixa Chiado" stop - green line and blue line

. Visit one of the Fado houses and then stay out for drinks in Bairro Alto. Q5. which ones are the best? how to get there?

Baixa Chiado is close to Bairro Alto, no need for transportation. 5m walking.

. Day 2

A day trip to Sintra.

Q6. should we spend one more day in lisbon instead? if we do,what should we be doing?

******

Sintra is a must see. schedule 1 day for it.

*****

hope it helps
