Travel between Lisbon and Evora and Fatima

We are a group of 11 travelling to Lisbon in August. We want to go to Fatima and Evora from Lisbon (on 2 different days). What would be more efficient-renting cars or using buses or trains?

There are a lot of buses between Lisboa and Évora (www.rede-expressos.pt, only in Portuguese). There are also trains (www.cp.pt). However I think yoy have better to rent a car, because you can visit also some places around Évora: Arraiolos, Monsaraz...

You would of course need three cars or two vans!

Getting from Lisbon to Evora by bus or train is easy enough and not expensive; with a group of 11 you may be able to have a group ticket. But there are only three trains each day and to have a day out in Evora the 821am train is the only option. Buses Lisbon - Evora operate about once every hour, which is perhaps more suitable.

But there is only bus from Lisbon to Fatima (the train station called Fatima is many km from the town) - check out prices and times at www.rede-expressos.pt

Advance reservation/booking is essential on both train and bus.

Hope that hekps.
