Which is the best option for day tours from Lisbon to Fatima

There are 4 of us (2 couples) who are going to be in Lisbon on April 10-13, 2008 - we would like to take day trips from Lisbon to Fatima, Sintra, Obidos, and other? Can you book the trips from your hotel the day before??- we are staying at the Mundial - if so, which is the best tour company??

Hi!

I can't really help on any company that offers day trips to the places that you refer. Anyway I can recommend for example:

Sintra, is accessible easily by train in 40 minutes. It will allow you to have your own schedule. Excepting the Pena Palace and Cabo da Roca, most places are accessible by foot from the terminal train station. To the Pena Palace there is a Bus that stops right in front of the Palace. After visiting the Palace a 5/10 minute walk will take you to the Moor Castle and from there you can get by foot to Sintra again (always down... )

Fatima will take a full day, due to the fact it will take at least an hour and 15m to get there. It can easily be accessed by bus. Buses depart hourly from the bus station at Sete-Rios/Jardim Zoologico.

Obidos is a bit more complicated so I do recommend a booked trip, except if you rent a car. By car it would allow you after Obidos to go to Caldas da Rainha and visit the Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro Pottery museum.

Anyhow check out with the hotel what it can offer.

Dear Teresa,

You can check our website: mywaytours.pt that shows best what this local certified company do. We do provide an adequate vehicle at competitive rates with professional tourism drivers or guides. It is not possible to tell which company is the best, but people do really make the difference !!

Just one recommendation, avoid going to Fátima on the 13th due to huge crowds of pilgrims. The same day you do Fátima, you may include Óbidos, Nazaré, Batalha or ALcobaça Monasteries. But save one full day for Sintra.

Have a nice stay and make the best of Portugal !!
