Cascais in early May with 11 month old - weather? too long?

Hi there,

We are considering traveling to Cascais for 10 nights with our 11 month old baby in early May.

Do you think this is too long a time for this resort?

What would the weather be like at this time do you know?

Many thanks

Hi - I think it will depend upon where you are staying and the type of holiday you want. The Portuguese are very family friendly, so there is no probably in going places in Cascais - you will feel very welcome. Nb Most pavements are cobbled, so this does make it a little more difficult for pushing a pram.

Cascais is a town, not just a tourist place. So the benefit is that you can get anything you will need (for your 11 year old), however where you stay and the facilities it has could make a real different.

Last year May was unusually hot, however normally it should be nice and warm and a good time for a visit with a baby (as it wont be too hot). Note the sea will be cold as this is straight off the Altantic, so check that where you are staying has a heated pool, if you want to use this.

Hope this helps

"Cascais is a town, not just a tourist place": not really. Cascais it's a bit touristic and May it's already considered high season.

strawberry-world.com/portugal/…index.html This is a good description off Cascais - "Cascais has known how to grow into the cosmopolitan town that it is today whilst retaining its original flavour and charm. You would be forgiven for forgetting that you are a mere 25 minutes’ drive from a European capital when you walk around its town centre. The atmosphere is that of a bright and breezy seaside town, where picturesque and elegant go side by side in surroundings more befitting a holiday destination than a residential suburb of Lisbon." Cascais has a resident population of around 33000.

Thanks so much for your reply.

We were planning to rent an apartment and self cater.

When you say 'warm' in May would it be warm enough to sunbathe or just nice to walk around in?

thanks
